Medical Disclaimer

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 immediately. Do not rely on this website or telehealth services for emergency care.

1. Informational Content Only

The content published on sanfranciscomarijuanacard.org — including text, graphics, FAQs, and other materials — is provided for general informational purposes only. It is not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment from a qualified healthcare provider. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you have read on this Site.

2. Physician Evaluations

Medical marijuana recommendations are issued only after an individualized evaluation by a physician licensed by the Medical Board of California. The decision to recommend medical cannabis rests entirely with the evaluating physician's independent professional judgment. Booking an appointment does not guarantee approval, and approved cards are issued within approximately 10–15 minutes of the evaluation as a courtesy estimate, not a medical or contractual guarantee.

3. No Doctor-Patient Relationship via Website

Browsing this Site, reading its content, or contacting us by email does not create a doctor-patient relationship. A doctor-patient relationship is established only when you complete a telehealth consultation with one of our licensed physicians.

4. About Medical Cannabis

  • Cannabis affects every individual differently, and its use may carry risks, including side effects and interactions with other medications.
  • Cannabis use is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and may not be appropriate for individuals with certain medical or psychiatric conditions.
  • Discuss your complete health history with the evaluating physician, and consult your primary care provider about how cannabis may interact with your existing treatment.
  • Do not drive, operate machinery, or perform safety-sensitive tasks while under the influence of cannabis.

5. Legal Status

Medical cannabis is legal in California for qualifying patients under the Compassionate Use Act of 1996 (Proposition 215). However, cannabis remains a Schedule I controlled substance under U.S. federal law. Possession or use on federal property, or transport across state lines, is prohibited regardless of state authorization. You are solely responsible for complying with all laws that apply to you.

6. No Guarantees of Outcomes

We make no claims, representations, or guarantees that medical cannabis will treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition. Statements on this Site have not been evaluated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
